“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5: 19-20
Have you noticed that a business plan asks for a marketing strategy? A marketing strategy consists of a series of ongoing activities you plan to implement over a period of time to achieve a particular goal in your business.
Planning your marketing strategy lets you know the actions you will take on a regular basis to keep your business growing. Most people think of marketing as something that is done on an occasional basis without a real plan, usually when it seems convenient. For example, you might have a Twitter or Facebook account. When you feel like it, you make a tweet or put a post on Facebook. But with a marketing strategy, you pre-plan when you will do these activities on a regular and consistent basis if it feels convenient or not.
By designing a marketing strategy you take your business to a whole new level of preparation. Here are 7 top tips to help you design a marketing strategy to build your business.
1. Overall Goal. Start by determining the overall goal you want to reach through a marketing program. Do you intend to increase visitors to your website or storefront? Do you want to increase the amount of programs or services you promote? Do you want to increase the income for your business? Do you want to do all of these things?
2. Select the time period. Over what period of time will you pursue these goals? Designing a year-long marketing strategy gives you a good period of time to create a plan of action. You have time to develop consistency in placing your business name in front of the public which will build your business presence.
3. The Target Market. A specific target market is needed to effectively design a message that speaks directly to the heart and mind of your consumer base. If you don’t know who to focus on in your marketing, you waste time, money and effort trying to promote to everybody; which is an impossible task in business.
4. The Message. With the target market identified you can create a marketing message that makes them pay attention to your business. Design an overarching slogan or theme for your marketing program that enhances your brand and places you in a positive position in the mind of the target consumer.
5. Chart Your Path. Get a calendar for the year and chart out the important marketing activities that you will do on a regular basis each day, week, and month. Be consistent with these regular activities. This can include writing and publishing a weekly web article or posting to your blog and social networking sites on a daily basis.
6. List Periodic Activities. Next identify the activities you will do periodically such as once each quarter, twice a year or annually. These could include a special live or Internet based event, getting published in a newsletter or online ezine of a joint venture partner or writing an article for a magazine.
7. Chart Special Opportunities. Find opportunities that offer the chance to promote your business to new groups of people in your target market. For example, could you be a vendor at a women’s conference, a speaker at a networking group, or offer a door-prize for a school fundraiser? These opportunities might come up only on special occasions or be annual events you participate in during this marketing year. Chart these on your marketing strategy plan.
This is a simplistic way to get started on a marketing strategy. You can see that it gives you more than one way to do your marketing. It also means you have to sit down, think things through ahead of time, and plan a whole year’s worth of activities. You won’t be caught off guard about marketing activities. You’ll also start to develop an ongoing presence with your target group which helps to build trust while building your business.

Stop Worrying and Build Your Business
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (NIV, Philippians 4:6)
Are you anxious about your business pursuits? Has the worldly worry about the economy, health care, swine flu, spending habits and all other topics gotten inside of your head and started eating a little hole of doubt in your brain? The scripture tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything.” That means don’t be worried about anything going on around you, including all the stores closing up, all the doomsday talk or anything else.
Holding to this idea has to be a conscious decision on the part of any Christian woman in business. Taking steps in your business life with confidence means knowing how to implement Biblical principles in practical ways while carrying on your workday.
Remember, God is still in control. It’s easy to forget this truth when everything you hear is negative and full of gloom. The media industry makes its money by creating reports that people tune in to hear. For some reason, people in this modern society are becoming more drawn to the negative side of things. That’s why news reports of negative situations get a lot of attention.
But this is not what feeds your soul, or the success of your business. You can’t spend time dwelling in negative reports about how bad the economy is and think about how great your next product sale will be at the same time.
Letting your mind get saturated by reports of hatred, anger, and doom will start to set up a battle in your mind to stay focused on your plans for a prosperous business future. Consistent negative reports bring up feelings of fear and fear can make you feel too afraid to try anything new and innovative.
Keep a grip on reality. The truth is that the world is always has been and always will be full of turmoil. At this time in the business world, the economic conditions are shifting and changing. The downward spiral toward economic depression has been halted and a turnaround is in progress.
Instead of being stuck in thoughts of impending disaster, you can keep your mind prayerfully open to get new, creativity ideas. The world is looking for new products and services. Instead of seeing lack and limitation, the reality is that you area a child of the God of the Universe.
There is an endless supply of ideas that are just waiting to be brought to the world. Instead of being in fear that your business won’t survive doing what it’s always done, throw your heart and mind open. You could be the one to bring new ideas to the marketplace that have never been seen or heard of before.
Be responsible for your business operations. Learn how to run your business better using solid business principles that keep your operations changing and shifting as necessary to respond to your target market.
Use the privileges you have to present your requests about your businesses in prayerful petitions before the Lord before setting about any new task. Ask for the success of your decisions. Ask to be alerted in your spirit if something isn’t going right or if you’re about to make a wrong move. Ask to know exactly how to go forward without hesitancy.
An important key for business women is to do all of this with thanksgiving. The scripture is saying that absolutely everything you put in prayer and petition should be presented with a spirit of thanksgiving. Does that mean the hard and difficult things too? Absolutely.
Being thankful no matter what the situation shows your strong faith that your business isn’t yours at all – it’s the Lords. If there’s something difficult going on in the business, be thankful. Prayerfully ask to learn the lessons you need to know so the next decisions will bring needed changes.
When the business gets a tremendous break or experiences a big sale, express thankfulness. Sit down and review what happened so you can do this again or even create a way to systematically implement the successful process into your operations.
As you can see, being able to not be anxious about anything, takes conscious awareness on your part. It also requires that you take the steps required to not be worried. Present your requests in prayerful petitions before the Lord with thanksgiving at all times. Turn off the negative bombardments that want to capture your thoughts and make you feel fear and instead, keep your mind and heart on the possibilities of the future in your business.
You never know what tremendously fabulous idea is just waiting to be brought to the world through your business operations.

CWIB News - Workshop Announcement & New Report
Greetings CWIB Friends,
I have a very short message for you this week. That’s because I’m getting ready to go to Washington, DC for the Inauguration Ceremonies of Barack Obama as our 44th President of the United States of America. No matter what your political affiliations are this is a year of historic proportion and hope for all Americans and indeed for people around the world. We are blessed to have a Believer as our President as we face some serious crisis in our nation and the world.
Some of these crises will have an effect on businesses. However, the savvy small business woman can survive a recession by applying strategic steps to diversify her business, create new streams of income and generate business from new market segments.
Living the Vision Business Workshop
I am holding a live workshop event in Fresno, California on March 28, 2009. The Living the Vision Business Workshop is a one day, intensive strategic planning session that will give you specific tools to get your business vision out of your head and onto the paper. It will be totally worth the time, money and effort to be there. If you can’t make it to this workshop you will soon be able to get information on how to have a ‘Living the Vision Business Workshop’ in your area too.
Why Women Can Succeed in a Recession Report
I wrote a special report and posted it on the workshop page on “7 Reasons Why Women Can Succeed in a Small Business During a Recession.” Just read through the information page on the workshop and you’ll find it about half way down the page. You have to fill in your name and email to access the report.
As I said, this would be short. I’m still packing.
Talk to you next week
God Bless,
Consuelo

Focus on your business calling, not your neighbors.
(Ephesians 1:11; Psalms139:14).
Every woman has her own talents and calling in the business arena. As you consider your personal values, talents and skills it’s important that you stop focusing on what the others people are doing in business. You alone can perform your business
purpose in life.
Sit down and rest. Then take out a piece of paper and pen. Make a study your own talents, strengths, and skills that you could transfer into a business operation. If you are already in business, are you using this background in your operations? If not, where can you see adding these skills to your business operations?
These talents, strengths, and skills will be unique to you and no one else, and will become the foundation for a business that supports your right calling in life.
For instance, say you are doing the same type of business as someone else. Even if you have the same education or come from the same neighborhood you still have a unique perspective on business and life. You will look at people differently. You will have a different way of presenting your business to the public and have your own “voice” when writing the content that makes up your website.
That means you will attract the perfect right customer for you. Your business is needed in the world. It serves a unique purpose that no other business could fill. Celebrate your individual background and strategize the business that only you can operate in a successful way.
