Bible Entrepreneurs

Have you ever noticed that a lot of people in the Bible were either some type of business person or they were the servants? The people were mostly business owners or independent crafts people who owned their own land, worked hard and were self-sufficient. That is until they angered God and received punishment in some way.

God is a supporter of the business model. There is so much information on doing business in the Bible. In the next few weeks I'm going to look at some Bible entrepreneurs and see how God supported their efforts.

I'm also thinking of starting a "through the Bible" course online. I've taught classes on the whole Bible for a few years in different places and don't have a regular class going this year. I thought it might be fun to try it online and get a lot of new people involved.

Would love to hear what you think about that.

Working God's Business

"God cares about honesty in the workplace; Your business is His business."
(Prov. 16:11, Peterson)

Every year when I'm reading through the Bible I come up on wisdom like this. Even though I've read through the Bible every year for decades, I always find something new and wonderful. This year, I'm reading the Peterson version and it's bringing a fresh new perspective to my reading. Because the presentation is so new to me, I'm seeing things that I probably didn't pick up in prior readings. That's because the word of God is alive and burns in our hearts according to what the Holy Spirit needs to teach us at any time.

This Proverb packs some real power for staying honest as a Christian business woman. It is impossible to operate our business in a way that does not honor God if we claim to believe in His Son. Our busines is a reflection of our beliefs --- a reflection of how we worship God on a daily basis.

It doesn't matter what others are doing. Maybe we see others cheating people through inflated pricing or by selling inferior products. There's lots of business "opportunities" online and off line these days. Some are little more than scams or the attempts of somebody to copy a real idea, rewrite it and sell it to make money off the unsuspecting business seeker. Some of these dishonest business people are making a lot of money.

It doesn't matter what others are doing, a woman of God can't do this. You can't work "God's business" and do it it any other way than how He would do it. A CBW, represents the Master and He cares about how His business is conducted. Be encouraged and remember:

God can't stand deceivers, but oh how He relishes integrity" (Prov. 11:20, Peterson)

Christian Business Women - Greetings

Welcome to CBW1.blogspot. This is where you'll get the latest in news in the business world as it relates to your interests as a Christian woman in business. Recently I went on a review of blogs and websites for Christian business people. There's a lot of good information out there. I will be linking to some of these sites for you to use as resources. Also, you'll find that there will be a lot of new information located here for your enjoyment too.

Here's something good for you today: "The diligent find freedom in their work; the lazy are oppressed by work." (Prov. 12:24, Peterson)

That idea really speaks to a Christian business woman's attitude. Being diligent means you're going to stay the course that Christ has given you to follow. In planning your day and dedicating all of it to the Lord, you can keep your eyes on the prize that He has promised to you. I know a lot of lazy people and their attitudes are very different than the people who love to work, even when they're tired or not seeing immediate results from their efforts.

There's a real sense of peace from working hard. That peace brings the freedom that our work promises. Have a great work day my sisters.
