Bible Entrepreneurs

Have you ever noticed that a lot of people in the Bible were either some type of business person or they were the servants? The people were mostly business owners or independent crafts people who owned their own land, worked hard and were self-sufficient. That is until they angered God and received punishment in some way.

God is a supporter of the business model. There is so much information on doing business in the Bible. In the next few weeks I'm going to look at some Bible entrepreneurs and see how God supported their efforts.

I'm also thinking of starting a "through the Bible" course online. I've taught classes on the whole Bible for a few years in different places and don't have a regular class going this year. I thought it might be fun to try it online and get a lot of new people involved.

Would love to hear what you think about that.

This is a very interesting idea. I had not thought about an online course, much less one on entrepreneuers in the Bible.

I especially like the story in the Bible in the book of Samuel about the widow that went to the prophet Elijah or Elisha and begged him to help her keep her sons from being sold into slavery to pay an outstanding debt.

The prophet had the woman collect vessels, fill them with "supernaturally provided oil", then sell them at the market. Was this not putting this woman into business? Also, she was only as sucessful as was her faith strong, as exhibited with the amount of vessels that she collected.

Yes, I think the subject matter of entreprenuers in the Bible and the idea of online Bible study has much merit.
